Fire fighting and technical assistance

In the area of fire fighting, a lot of activity is taking place in the Euregion Meuse-Rhine. Almost 30 agreements between border municipalities arrange daily assistance of around 300 deployments per year. During cross-border incidents, the Emric-plan is activated. This is a generic Euregional assistance plan, which independent of the language and origin of the fire fighter, should guarantee quick assistance. In this plan, specialised assistance is included as well.

All agreements the area of fire fighting and technical assistance are made by the focus group BuKS. This group meets 4 times per year and has been meeting for many years now. Within this group, the Zuid-Limburg fire brigade (NL), the fire brigade of the city of Aachen (D), the Kreisbrandmeister of the Städteregion Aachen (D), the Kreisbrandmeister of Kreis Heinsberg (D), hulpverleningszone Oost-Limburg (B), hulpverleningszones Luik (B) and the German speaking community (B) are represented.

The focus group has established a diver working group, where specialists in this area come together to prepare the collaborative rescue of people in the water.
